what size wire do i need to input 7.2 kva cnc machine?
i just bought a cnc mill, It needs 7.2 kva input power. it needs three phase 220v electricity.
I want to know the size of wire, with how many conductors, and how many amps will be drawn.
thanks in advance for the appreciated effort.
Amp loading 22A @ 220v 3P
Wire size min #10( good for 35A NEC Table 310-16)
Distance from machine to disconnect unknown.
Line to line voltage drop per ampere per 100 ft 3 ph (80% PF) is 0.11V

You’ll need 4 conductors if it’s a ‘wye’ connected machine, or 3 if it’s a ‘delta’ connected machine.
If you look in the owners manual or on the data plate rivited to the machine, it will tell you the maximum current draw. Use that (along with your local electrical codes) to determine what size wire you’ll need.

This is a thumping large bit of electrical kit.
Earthing it properly is paramount.
You had best get a professional electrician to install it.
I take it you already have a three phase supply?
