$5000-10.000 budget to open engine rebuilding shop?
helo,
i want to open my own engine rebuilding shop, mainly for motorcycle. I,ve googled but the machinary very expensive such CNC/ peterson etc. Since theres not many competition in my area, what i,m planning is the very basic, "old school" engine rebuilding you may call it.I do have some basic knowledge and planning to take basic machinary course ( boring/honing) etc.
kind of work i,m planning to do are;
1. cylinder boring
2. cylinder honing
3. valve job
4. maybe some lathe machine job
please, tell me what machine and tools for the kind of work above

I,m from Indonesia, Bandung city. in my town we have very little good boring and honing shop. i just want to enter and still wide open boring and honing business.
I’m a community college student, and we have a cylinder boring machine that costs $20,000 in itself! My partner spent $4000 on just Snap-On tools alone!
So…I think you’re going to need a little more money O_O

Give it a little more thought…you don’t know what you are getting into.

With that much money you can re-build, but you won’t be able to do any machine work!
Add another 0 on the last figure ($100,000) and you would have a fairly decent amount for motorcycle work.
Open up with what you have, establish a customer base and then add equipment as you can afford, or as you can get financing.
