STAMA 5-AXIS MILLING and TURNING TECHNOLOGY
STAMA America announces the availability of its Model MC 726 MT, a unique five-axis, CNC milling/turning center designed for continuous production from bar stock of multiple and different parts, including high-precision medical devices. Owing to its fast changeover, 60-position tool magazine (HSK-A63) and trunnion swivel assembly, this STAMA VMC can produce even short runs of complex surgical tools, implants and other medical apparatus with superior quality, finish and cost efficiencies. Typically, Model MC 726 MT can result in up to 70% reductions in part processing time, according to current customers.

you’re wright but …
you’re wright but the whole story changes when you’ve to manufacturer f.e. one piece every month. the high set up cost you’ve to pay only once. afterward it’s for free – only changing the clamps – the tools stay in the machine (up to 240 tools)
You got it right. …
You got it right. This machine is uses to machine hip, dental and also other implants in titanium. It’s also used a lot by toolmakers. The machine is very succesfull in those markets.

I have jaw dropping respect for the people that can write dual head posts.
Collision detection must be a nightmare.

Cool machine, and if I could see a roi and had the work it would be great in my shop. The medical device market would have to be on fire to justify such a high caliber machine. I wonder how many have sold and where they went.

He’s talking about the setup time involved, not the time it takes the machine to complete the part. Low quantity parts can be made manually much easier, unless of course you require CNC precision or some other advantage like interpolation.
